How would you best describe your style? Comfort and Casual Chic have a baby and they name it Kristen Cavender
Jane Birkin or Olivia Palermo? I'm a Birkin girl for life.
If you could have any TV or movie character’s wardrobe, whose would you choose and why? Damn, so hard to choose. I'm going to be SO cliche and say-Carrie Bradshaw. While many of her outfits were totally ridiculous, I think it was her characters confidence and bravery to own each outfit is why I would chose her still. You could tell she loved what she was wearing, even if it was just some CK undies and a vintage Gap sweatshirt. I'll be a lifelong fan of SATC's opening scene with Carrie's ballerina skirt, no bra and vest look.
What made you choose the LB piece you’re currently styling? I'm such a huge fan of crop tops so of course I was THRILLED with the new collection!! The Mother white tee crop is my favorite and I chose it because it is simple but makes a statement. Pieces with bold but simple lettering always jumps out at people. The word "Mother" resonates with all of us, even if we don't have one. This tee is soft and chic, I can pair it with a jersey pencil skirt or a pair of flares. I can put it over a bathing suit or under a casual blazer. The possibilities are endless because the material is fantastic and the design is great!
What’s in your bag? A rollerball of Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf, Charlotte Tilbury's "Penelope Pink" lipstick(the BEST nude lip), my wallet-filled with mostly ones, old receipts and too many credit cards, some of my older sons Legos, candy for emergencies and small packet of Kleenex's.
What has been the best fashion/beauty advice you’ve received? I've often been hesitant to wear something a little more out of the ordinary despite loving the piece. I've always been a collector of bold statement pieces but not always the one to rock it. One of my oldest and most fashionable mama friends (@wolf_mother )once told me, "you just gotta do it, sometimes I wear my old faux furs to Bentley's PTA meetings and I love it".
How do you reset, recharge and keep feeling good as a mama? My boyfriend Jacob and I plan two dates a month without the kids. I lean on him heavily for balance and stability. Having a supportive partner is so huge in the thick of parenting. While I did mamahood on my own for 7 years, I have to say that having Jacob by my side gives me the most incredible strength. He is the most influential person in my life.
How has your style changed since becoming a mom? It's become a lot simpler since baby number two, although I've also upgraded a lot of staples to slightly more expensive items since the quality is usually higher and the product lasts longer. I think that's a coming of age move though, not so much just being a mom.
Any tips for mamas juggling the demands of motherhood with the desire to still be stylish? While I love a good sweater and some easy sneakers, I seriously enjoy the hell out of getting dressed up. A little Chanel and a silky blouse can make your whole night. Comfort and convenience is important but looking and feeling good shines so much brighter.
